Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1: Working Through Essentials 1 as a Complete Beginner

In Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1, I continued my beginner piano journey, worked through Essentials 1, and practiced the basics before moving forward.

Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1 continued my journey of learning piano from scratch.

In this video, I worked through the Essentials 1 course in Simply Piano. This session went longer than I expected, but it helped me build more confidence with the keyboard, beginner notes, timing, and rhythm.

I am still a complete beginner, so I am not trying to rush the process. I want to document the real journey as I learn, make mistakes, practice, and improve one step at a time.

Starting Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1

After finishing Day 1, I wanted to keep the momentum going.

Day 1 helped me get started with the basics. Day 2 felt more serious because I started working through Essentials 1, which pushed me to follow notes more carefully and stay focused for a longer practice session.

At this point, I still have to think about almost everything.

I have to watch the notes, find the right keys, keep the rhythm, and listen for mistakes. That sounds simple, but it takes a lot of focus when you are brand new to piano.

What I Practiced in Essentials 1

During Essentials 1, I practiced beginner piano skills that helped me get more comfortable with the keyboard.

I worked on recognizing notes, following the app, keeping better timing, and playing through beginner exercises without giving up when I missed something.

The biggest challenge was staying consistent.

Sometimes I would understand the pattern, but my hands would not react fast enough. Other times, I would hit the right key but lose the timing.

That is why I wanted to keep practicing instead of rushing through the lessons.

Finishing Simply Piano Essentials 1

The biggest win from Day 2 Part 1 was finishing Simply Piano Essentials 1.

That felt like a real milestone because it gave me my first clear step forward after starting the piano journey.

I am not saying I mastered anything yet. I still have a long way to go.

But finishing Essentials 1 showed me that I can make progress if I stay consistent and keep practicing.

That is the whole point of this series. I want to show what learning piano actually looks like from the beginning.

Why I Am Not Rushing Into Essentials 2 Yet

After finishing Essentials 1, I decided not to jump straight into Essentials 2.

Instead, I wanted to go back and practice the beginner songs I unlocked.

That felt like the smarter move because finishing a lesson does not always mean I fully understand it yet. I want to get more comfortable with the songs, the timing, and the notes before moving forward.

If I rush too fast, I might unlock more lessons without actually building the foundation I need.

So before I continue to Essentials 2, I plan to go through the songs I unlocked and use them as practice.

Practicing the Songs I Unlocked

One thing I mentioned in the video is that not every song shown counts as completed.

For this practice session, I am only counting songs as completed if they show three gold stars in Simply Piano.

That makes the progress more honest.

Some songs may appear in the app, but that does not mean I fully completed them. The three gold stars give me a clearer way to track which songs I actually finished well enough to count.

Some of the songs I had completed with three gold stars included:

Another Love (Chorus) by Tom Odell
I’ll Never Love Again (Chorus) by Lady Gaga
Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley
Better When I’m Dancing by Meghan Trainor
Born to Be Wild

These songs gave me a chance to practice what I learned in Essentials 1 before moving on.

What I Learned From Day 2 Part 1

Day 2 Part 1 taught me that beginner piano progress takes repetition.

It is easy to think that finishing a lesson means you are ready for the next one. But piano does not work that way.

I need to repeat the basics until my hands feel more natural on the keyboard.

I also learned that small wins matter. Finishing Essentials 1 may not sound huge to someone who already plays piano, but for a complete beginner, it felt like progress.

That progress gives me motivation to keep going.

Is Simply Piano Helping Me Learn?

So far, Simply Piano has helped me stay organized.

The app gives me a clear path to follow. It also gives feedback while I play, which helps me notice mistakes right away.

For a complete beginner, that structure makes piano feel less overwhelming.

I still need to practice outside of just completing lessons, but Simply Piano gives me a simple way to start and track my progress.

My Goal Before Essentials 2

My next goal is to practice the songs I unlocked before moving into Essentials 2.

I want to build more confidence with the beginner songs and make sure I am not just rushing through the app.

This is still Day 2, so I want to treat this as the first part of the day instead of the full progress update.

Day 2 Part 1 was about finishing Essentials 1.

The next part will focus more on reviewing songs, getting more comfortable, and preparing for what comes next.

Final Thoughts on Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1

Simply Piano Day 2 Part 1 was a strong step forward.

I finished Essentials 1, practiced beginner piano skills, and started thinking more seriously about how I want to learn.

Instead of rushing straight into Essentials 2, I want to review the songs I unlocked and make sure I actually understand what I learned.

I still make mistakes. I still move slowly. I still have to think about every note.

But that is exactly why I am documenting this journey.

This series is not about pretending to be good at piano. It is about showing the real process of learning piano from scratch.

Day 2 Part 1 is complete.

Now it is time to keep practicing.
